Two places to start

Photos or folders.
Start where your media lives.

Scan your Photos library.

Review likely sensitive media managed by Apple Photos. Give Sensitivity access to the library you want to check, then inspect the suggested matches in the Mac app.

If you use iCloud Photos, originals may need downloading before they can be scanned. Deleting from a synced library can affect your other devices.

Choose a Finder folder.

Check a folder of exports, downloads or archived photos outside Apple Photos. Choose the specific folder you want to review before sharing it or sorting an older collection.

A folder scan works on the files in that source. A separate copy in Photos or another folder remains separate. Hiding in Photos is not a Finder-folder action.

From scan to decision

A bigger view.
A considered choice.

  1. Choose your source.

Start with your Photos library or a Finder folder. Photo scanning is free.

  2. Review the suggestions.

Inspect likely matches on your Mac. Detection can miss items or flag harmless content, so check the results yourself.

  3. Choose what to remove.

Keep the items you want. Select only what you intend to delete and confirm the action.

Private by design

Read the privacy policy

Local analysis. No account.

Sensitivity analyzes photos and videos on your Mac. Your media is never uploaded to Sensitivity for scanning or review, and you do not need to create an account.

Offline, once files are local.

Scan files already downloaded to your Mac without an internet connection. Cloud-only originals still need to download from their storage provider first.

Protected saved results.

Saved scan results are protected with device authentication. Optional app usage analytics is separate from media analysis; see the privacy policy for details.

Before you scan

A few useful answers.

What does a sensitive photo scanner find?

Sensitivity looks for likely explicit nudity in photos and sampled video frames. It can help you review NSFW media, but it does not detect every kind of private information, such as addresses, documents or personal conversations. Detection can miss items and return false positives.

Can I scan a folder without importing it into Photos?

Yes. Choose a Finder folder as the scan source to review supported photos and videos outside Apple Photos. You do not need to import that folder into your Photos library.

Does Sensitivity work offline on Mac?

Yes, for media already available locally. Analysis runs on your Mac. Files stored only in iCloud or another cloud provider must be downloaded before a local scan can inspect them. Installing the app and making or restoring a purchase requires an internet connection.

Is Sensitivity for Mac free?

Photo scanning is free. Video scanning is an optional one-time in-app purchase, with no subscription. The Mac App Store shows the current price in your region.

Will deleting a photo affect my iPhone or iCloud Photos?

If you delete from a Photos library that uses iCloud Photos, the deletion can sync to your other devices. A Finder folder is a separate source: deleting a file there does not remove an independent copy in Photos or elsewhere. Check the source and your backups before confirming a deletion.

Which macOS version do I need?

Sensitivity for Mac requires macOS 26 or later. Check the Mac App Store listing for compatibility with your Mac. Sensitivity is also available for iPhone and iPad.
